The USS Slater remains closed this week as film crews continue work on the Japanese-produced feature, "Orion In Midsummer." Speaking of midsummer, it might seem like bad timing to shut down a major tourist attraction for two weeks in the middle of August, right? As it turns out, what's bad for visitors is good for the Slater's Destroyer Escort Historical Museum. According to the Troy Record, the organization is receiving "about $100,000" for the use of the ship as a filming location. That's probably more than they could make on the admission fees they collect. At $7 a head, they'd need more than 14,000 visitors to make that kind of money.
