This is a little unexpected: WNYT is showing "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" Saturday night at 9pm. The award winning 2001 musical is about a transgendered East German rock and roll singer ---and while a terrific movie, it's not exactly family friendly, so expect a few edits to make it broadcast safe. For example, "angry inch" is a reference to what was accidentally left behind after Hedwig's sex change operation. And why is all this unexpected? Hedwig's not airing on NBC; the station chose to pre-empt network programming to show the film on its own.
