Late August means that we're hot and heavy into county fair season. Whoa ---did we just say "late August?" Anyhow, the Washington County Fair kicks off today in Greenwich on Route 29. Along with the usual fair attractions of rides and greasy food, expect lots of down home music and daily truck and tractor pulls. If you like big vehicles that make a lot of noise, this is for you. Friday night is the fair's annual rooster crowing contest. We're not sure if that's humans doing rooster calls or roosters doing rooster calls; we'll let you know.
